This is a complete fossil pig skull of Kolpochoerus hesloni of which was recovered from the deposits on the east side of Lake Turkana. It was found in 2005 close to Area 40 north of Ileret. Kolpochoerus is characterised by the distinct and wide zygomatic arches that protrude below the eyes. The cheek teeth of this pig resemble those of the modern bushpig in both size and shape. Kolpochoerus has a long temporal range (3.2 to 0.7 million years) and has a wide geographic distribution.
