Reducini are water-dependent, grazing, small to large antelopes with high crowned teeth. The two living genera are Kobus (kobs, lechwes, and waterbuck) and the smaller genus Redunca (reedbucks). Only the male Reducini have horns in modern examples.

This cranium of Kobus kob has two complete horncores but is missing its dentition. The horncores are usually short and stout and curl backwards with little divergence at their base.

For species of Kobus are recognised in the Koobi Fora Formation, Kobus kobKobus lechweKobus sigmoidalis and Kobus ellipsyprymnus. An additional species now extinct, Menelikia lyrocera, was not uncommon amongst the Pliocene faunas in East Africa, but survived only until the beginning of the Pleistocene.
