This lower left mandible, with much of its dention, was found in 1985 at West Turkana, at a site near the Kangatukuseo sand river, 19 mts above the Lokalalei Tuff which is dated to 2.53 million years. Paranthropus aethiopicus has larger molars that differ from those of Paranthropus boisei which is most likely derived from this species.
