This small tool is a Karari Industry pounded piece, sometimes known as a battered cobble. It is a basalt raw material common in the Karari Industry of East Turkana. The battering and damage to the edges of this tool suggests that is has been used as tool. The battered cobbles are sometimes referred to as utilized cobblestones.
