KNMER 801
The original specimen, KNM-ER 801, was found by Richard Leakey in 1971 at a site near Ileret. Extensive sieving yielded a number of other specimens including several isolated teeth and dental fragments. Altogether, over several years of prospecting, the site produced the fragmentary remains of 11 individuals of Paranthropus boisei, which included three mature mandibles and several postcranial elements.
