This protobiface belongs to the oldest Early Acheulean known so far in East Africa and in the world. It is made on a large  thick cobble of phonolite (L = 227mm, W = 123mm, T = 82mm) which has been split  by percussion on an anvil, and then partially shaped with a rounded tip, likely by hand held percussion.
